University of Notre Dame

University of Notre Dame is a private 4-year university affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church. It is a residential campus in a small city with 8,266 degree-seeking undergraduates and 3,016 graduate students. 32% of all applicants are admitted. SAT or ACT (ACT writing optional) and application essay are required.

Founded in 1842; regionally accredited. Notre Dame Study Centers in Washington DC; Dublin, Ireland; London, England; Rome, Italy and Jerusalem. Special facilities: Art museum, theater, germ-free research facility, radiation laboratory, nature preserve for biological research, wind-tunnel research facility.

High school preparation: 16 units required; 20 recommended. Required and recommended units include English 4, mathematics 3-4, history 2-4, science 2-4, foreign language 2-4 and academic electives 3. Precalculus or calculus, chemistry and physics recommended for architecture, engineering and science programs. Social studies requirement should include history.
